A detailing studio: a site that names a range before the inspection
A website for a car studio that polishes bodywork, applies ceramic coating and film. In this trade the price is usually not named before the inspection, and the customer has no idea what to expect. On this site they answer three questions and see a range together with the time the car will stay in the bay. The first screen is dark, like the bay itself, and the background on it is not a picture: the graphics card draws it right there in the browser.
In detailing the price is hidden until the inspection,
and that is where the calls are lost.
Someone whose bodywork is scratched wants to know the ballpark price now, not after the inspection. The site is built around that one need.
- A calculator of three questionsWhich service, which body type, what state the paint is in. Out comes a range and the time in the bay. Next to it, it says plainly that this is a guide, and the exact price goes into the contract after the inspection.
- The state of the paint counts for more than the class of the carYou can see it in the calculator itself: worn paint adds more than an SUV does over a sedan. That way the customer understands in advance what they are paying for.
- A list of jobs with the detailsThe car, the year, how many days, what it cost and where the difficulty was. No last names, and the license plates in the photos are covered.
- A background computed on the flyThe graphics card draws the first screen, frame by frame, right in the browser. On devices that cannot do it the same gradient stays, only still, and the page does not break.
- The guarantee and the order of the workHow long the ceramic coating holds, what must not be done to it, and what happens in the bay day by day.
- Two languagesThe whole site is translated into English, with the switch at the bottom of the page.

from the live site.
First screen
Dark, like a bay with the overhead lights off. The background drifts slowly in bands: this is not video, the graphics card draws it right in the browser. The page does not load a heavy file of several megabytes at all.
The estimate
Three rows of pill buttons and the price under them. The clip shows how it works: film, an SUV and worn paint are picked, and the range and the time in the bay are recalculated at every tap. Recorded from the live site.

On a phone
The pill buttons wrap onto several rows and stay big enough for a thumb, and the price does not run off the screen. People book detailing mostly from a phone, often straight from a parking lot.
Detailing is not bought from a list of services,
it is bought once people know what it will come to.
A range instead of “come over and we will take a look”
Three taps and a person knows the ballpark price. Anyone who is not ready for that kind of money does not take up the bay and does not eat an hour of a detailer's time at an inspection.
The time in the bay is named next to the price
Three days without a car is a decision of its own, and it is better made at home than on the spot. That is the most common reason bookings fall through.
The state of the paint shows up in the estimate itself
The customer sees in advance that they are paying for the work, not for the make of the car. The most unpleasant conversation in this trade is about exactly that.
